The little print, made friendly
Privacy Policy
We made Junipertale for families, and we treat your family's details the way we'd want our own treated — carefully, and with as little collected as possible. Here's exactly what that means.

Who we are
This service is run by Junipertale(“we”, “us” or “our”). We create personalized, illustrated storybooks that make your child the hero of their own adventure. If you have any questions about your privacy or your family's information, email us at hello@junipertale.com and a real person will help.
Junipertale is for grown-ups to use
Junipertale is meant to be used by a parent or guardian, on a child's behalf. When you create a book, you're telling us you're the child's parent or guardian and that you're happy for us to use the few details below to make their story. Children should not use Junipertale on their own.
What we collect
We deliberately ask for as little as possible — just enough to write a story that feels like it's truly about your child:
- Your child's first name — so they can be the hero of the story.
- An age range(such as 1–3, 4–6, or 7–9) — so we can pitch the words and themes at the right level. We don't ask for an exact date of birth.
- A simple description of how your child looks — hair colour and style, skin tone, eye colour, whether they wear glasses, and an optional note about anything distinctive (like freckles or a favourite hat). We use this only so the illustrations look like your child on every page. We pick from simple options — we never ask you to upload a photo.
- Story preferences— the theme or adventure and the gentle lesson you'd like the story to carry.
- An optional dedication — a short personal message, only if you choose to add one.
Just as importantly, here's what we don'task for or collect about your child: no surname, no home or email address, no photo, and no date of birth. We don't need them to make a wonderful book, so we don't collect them.
How your child's story is written
The magic behind each book is AI writing tools. To create your story, we send the few details above — your child's first name, age range, the simple description of how they look, the chosen theme or lesson, and the optional dedication — to trusted AI providers, who use them to generate the story text:
- OpenAI — generates the personalized story text. It has its own privacy policy.
- Anthropic — used for the same purpose, and to run the automatic quality check that reviews each finished book before we send it. It also has its own privacy policy.
- Google — draws the illustrations, from the simple description of how your child looks. It has its own privacy policy.
Your child's first name is never sent to the illustration provider — the drawings are made from the appearance description alone, so the name that appears in your story never travels with the pictures.
We never send these providers your child's surname, contact details, a photograph, or date of birth — only the story and description details listed above. Under their standard business (API) terms, these providers use the information only to generate your story and do not use it to train their AI models.
The other companies that help us run Junipertale
Beyond the AI providers above, a few standard services handle the plumbing. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job:
- Supabase — stores your order, your story and its illustrations in a private database and file store.
- Netlify — hosts the website and runs the code that builds your book.
- Stripe — takes the payment. Your card details go straight to Stripe; we never see or store them.
- Resend— sends you the email telling you your book is ready. It receives your email address, not your child's details.
Where your information is processed
Junipertale is operated from, and its providers process information in, the United States. If you are writing to us from outside the US — including the UK, the EU or India — creating a book means your details are transferred to and handled in the US, where privacy laws differ from those at home. We only ever transfer the small set of details listed above.
How we use it, and how long we keep it
We use the details you give us for one thing: to create, preview and deliver your personalized storybook. We do not sellyour or your child's information, we do not market to children, and we do not use your child's details to build a profile or to advertise anything to anyone.
We keep your book and the details tied to your order for 12 months, so you can come back and re-download it and so we can help with a refund or a question. After that we delete your child's name, age range and appearance description, along with the story and its illustrations. We keep a plain record of the purchase itself — the date, the amount and your email address — for as long as tax and accounting rules require, because we are obliged to.
You can ask us to delete it sooner, at any time. Email us at hello@junipertale.com from the address you ordered with, and we will erase your child's details, the story and the illustrations within 30 days and confirm when it is done. You do not have to give us a reason.
Your choices & rights
It's your family's information, and you're in control. As the parent or guardian, you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, or delete it — including everything connected to a story you've created. Just email hello@junipertale.com and we'll take care of it.
Keeping it safe
We take sensible steps to protect your information and only share it with the trusted services described above, each for the single purpose of making your book. No system online is ever completely risk-free, but we treat your family's details with real care.
Changes to this policy
As Junipertale grows, we may update this policy. When we do, we'll change the “last updated” date at the top of this page. If anything here is ever unclear, please email us — we're happy to explain.
